THE WOMAN IN ART
Nigai Taiyō is an artist and performer based in Wuppertal, Germany. She works primarily in front of the camera, but also develops her own visual projects behind it. Together with Olaf Bergmann, she regularly explores new ideas through independent projects.
Taiyō experiences the world differently. She has a strong eye for detail, a heightened sensitivity to sensory impressions and perceives and interprets her surroundings in a different way. As an autistic artist, Taiyō brings a distinct expressiveness in front of the camera and has a natural ability to step into different roles, characters and identities.
Her work is characterized by a strong presence, emotional expression and movement. She explores how an idea can become visible as a photograph, a film scene or a dance performance. Behind the camera, she also values authenticity and captures moments in their essence, without post-production or any retouching.
